MAC Cosmetics Hypnotizing Holiday Launch

When MAC called from New York and said we had to plan a party, we packed our bags – and a freight truck loaded with décor – and made our way across the country. The MAC Holiday collection titled “Hypnotizing Holiday” offered a variety of bright whimsical patterns, making it fun to decorate the space in creative ways. The Bryant Park Overlook boasts a view one of the first ice-skating rinks to be installed for the holidays in NYC, so the ambience was naturally festive. Branded punchy patterned motifs were printed on paper goods as well as vinyl elements, including menus, place cards, and the DJ booth. The color scheme continued and was seen in décor details, such as wreaths bedecked in brightly hued garlands of tiny ornaments.

Pre-MAC holiday festivities - getting all furniture into place, setting the lighting and custom gobos, and taking our places for guest arrivals!

Hundreds of poinsettias were arranged throughout the venue. They complemented all-white Christmas trees with deep pink uplighting, and along with candlelight, the bright red plants lined hallways and the staircase beautifully. The vibe of the event was amorous and mesmerizing, perfectly in tune with the packaging of all the beautiful new eye shadows, lip glosses, and lipsticks. Oversized posters of campaign advertising were placed strategically, so that guests could take a closer look when passing through from one area to the next. The campaign ads included props like lollipops, so we helped to craft a lighting design that emblazoned these same shapes on the wall, but in white so they gave off a feeling of snowflakes.

Soft, cozy carves in ebony and dark pink were embroidered with classic MAC branding and gifted to attendees, along with samples from “Hypnotizing Holiday.” There were MAC Christmas-tree shelves that held the sets from the collection; each guest was encouraged to freely select which shades they’d like to take home and try for themselves. Another fantastic portion of the night? The male model who was painted in pink shades to identically match the packaging!
