Motherhood Is For The Birds, The Baby Birds
This was a special day a couple years back that we completely forgot to post about but has been one of my most celebrated days, celebrating motherhood with our baby birds. My friends are my family and I love nothing more than showering them with delicious meals, colorful desserts and of course - lots of champagne. I have been a mother for half of my life and it's always been something I've shared closely with the friends and family that have supported me along the way. Having the opportunity to celebrate alongside them is special to me, and my way of thanking them for all that they do. All my favorites were invited into my home on our sundeck for a private catered afternoon.
Invitations and menus were handcrafted by Chanda Alicante, with bright pops of color that really "tweeted" a spring soiree. The Bird Feeder displayed all the delicious menu selections. Each guest was also gifted her own bird on a fork with her name written, whimsically. A variety of colorful florals and birdcages accented tables from Circa Rentals, thanks to Ann at White Sakuras. The best part? I found tons of birds on clearance at a craft store and they tied it altogether.
The menu boasted a variety of yogurts, berry salads, eggs and mimosas from Chef Travis (now the Executive Chef at Alexander's Steakhouse). Leslie at Fantasy Frostings knew just what we needed when she created this over-the-top rainbow cake with all the sugar flowers a mama bird could wish for. Maskipops and Sugar Spinner provided bite sized edible favors such as fruit tarts and chocolates.
Special thanks to Kristina Lee Photography for the beautiful images and for all the family portraits of each mommy and their baby birds.
Below are some of my favorite snapshots from the day. Since every day is Mother's Day, it isn't too late for me to wish a Happy Mother's Day to all!
