CJ Paul's Country Club Themed 40th Birthday

CJ Paul’s 40th Birthday was a fun one! The older brother and manager of NBA star Chris Paul knew exactly what he wanted for the memorable milestone celebration. Set at Casita Hollywood, Wife of the Party and team worked hard to completely transform the chic indoor/outdoor space into a preppy, country club vibe venue. I loved the clean slate and the unique theme!

Lounge areas created by piecing together plush furniture in dark brown shades were accented with classic glass coffee tables decorated with airy floral arrangements in mostly ivory tones. Some of the round tables were overlaid in an argyle print to play on the theme – in the same print that donned the customized, branded step-and-repeat. The lighting was cool and masculine, a perfect play on the custom wood fabricated “country club walls” adorned with picture frames, light fixtures, and golf clubs.

Personalized cocktails cleverly named after golf terms and made complete with a golf club drink stirrer and fresh citrus wedges were a hit amongst guests, as was as the “storefront” that offered branded birthday merchandise that included hoodies, hats, socks, and of course, golf balls! To make for interesting décor elements, we also decided to build custom mini-golf areas, branded all the golf carts and offered guests a tequila shot from the cooler setup on the golf cart upon entry, as well as placing a huge vinyl decal over the dance floor that read: Catch Me on the 19th Hole. CJ’s shoes and trophies were on display, some in lighted cases or nestled on podiums, to commemorate some of his storied athletic career.

Partygoers mingled with one another, enjoyed tray-passed appetizers, desserts, and slices of the birthday cake, posed for pictures at the photo booth, and even relished in smoking a freshly rolled cigar. Streamers burst into the air from the DJ booth as everyone sang “Happy Birthday” to CJ. It was an eventful evening filled with family, friends, and 40th birthday wishes!
