A 6th Drive-By Birthday For Our Social Butterfly, Jade!
For Jade's Butterfly Birthday Drive-By Party, we were thinking a whimsical garden of pure magic! Jade is the daughter of one of my good friends, and I wanted to make her sixth birthday extra special for her. It’s hard for little ones to face the challenges Covid has caused. I feel disappointed when I hear that a child is missing out on birthday fun with friends and family, so it warms my heart when we are asked to contribute to an event that can really create a beautiful memory for a child.
The butterfly theme meant setting up, completely decorating, and transforming the home’s driveway into a whimsical fantasy forest. My team and I spent hours covering truss in lush greenery, arranging bunches and garlands of balloons until they were just right, adjusting paper butterflies adorned throughout the décor, and shaping eye-catching cherry blossom trees to add dimension to the “forest.” Herick crafted a lighting design in shades of purple and pink, as well as a butterfly floor motif. We wanted it to look perfect before we asked Jade to take a look for the first time. Her smile said it all when her mom walked her over to take a peek before attendees arrived!
We hoped the design felt fairy-tale-like as loved ones passed by to drop off gifts for Jade, they honked and waved and looked in awe as they realized the beauty laid out for this special drive-by party. In return, Jade passed out some cool favors. Guest favors included sugar cookies by Auntie Apple, candy, toys, and a unique fairy jar nightlight. The nightlight is a favorite of mine because it’s something that lasts and can remind people of the special day every time they use it.
After the final car passed and wished Jade the happiest of birthdays, she and her closest relatives joined together in the backyard of the home for a private dinner. The color scheme and concept beautifully carried over into the design of the dinner service, and Jade was nothing but happy as she blew out the candles on her pretty cake made by her grandmother!
