Saweetie's Freaknik Birthday Party

With famed rapper Saweetie’s birthday party coming up, she wanted to do something different for her celebration. Deciding to go with the concept of “Freaknik,” a former spring break festival in Atlanta, very popular in the late 1980s through early 1990s. For this particular “Freaknik,” twerk-fest, we focused on wild and unexpected details mixed in with glamour and overall beautiful aesthetics.

Loved ones were so excited to spend time with Saweetie, so proud of all her successes, this birthday party was going to be a memorable one! At the entrance of the venue Goya Studios, guests discovered an impressive balloon display spelling out “Saweetie” in white with pink uplighting for a sprinkling of color from Uppity Balloons.

Inside, one wall displayed a backdrop of oversized gold hoops made of fresh flowers crafted by La Fleur. Beside it, sat a huge peach emoji with “Saweetie’s Freaknik” written across it. It was such an adorable space and one of my favorites! A larger wall that wrapped around the dance floor showcased graffiti art in bright colors, along with giant posters of the birthday girl. Large LED screens played videos and highlighted additional photos.

The dance floor was illuminated by incredible lighting design, provided by Wife of the Party, in neon hues, while the bar – from Create Event Design – itself was lighted in a shade of blue. Crystal Bartenders did an impeccable job crafting any type of specialty drink favored by guests. DJs Casanova, Spaz, Charisma, Da Boy Dane, and Gio played the crowd’s favorites and everyone danced until the wee hours of the morning, eating incredible food in between sets from food trucks, Trap Kitchen and Wings & Waffles who both served delicious fare. For treats after dinner, attendees were offered slices of birthday cake from Belladonna Sweets.

Partygoers were also in for some extra summer fun with a dunk tank provided by BR Party Rentals, a custom beer pong table, table tennis tables, and an innovative photo booth from LX Pix that shot images from above. Another cool part of the space was the section transformed into a living room – complete with book shelves, sofas, and other furniture that made you feel like you walked back into the 1980s.

Happy birthday, Saweetie!
