Funville! Dan's Retirement Party

When it came time for Dan to retire after many years of hard work, his colleague and best friend Mike decided he would host the ultimate celebration to relish in the moment of Dan’s professional accomplishments and welcome in this new stage of life. Casita Hollywood served as the venue for an evening of delicious fare, musical merriment, and revelry in “Funville.” Dan is the self-proclaimed “Mayor of Funville,” so the theme fit perfectly!

A vibrant color palette was chosen for décor and floral arrangements, including whimsical flower-and-verdure arrangements that were placed on gilt étagères, sleek lounge areas, as well as high cocktail tables and the dinner table. Vivid mood lighting reflected beautifully against lush draping and helped to highlight all of the pops of color – in shades of scarlet, fuchsia, and tangerine – around the room.

We hired Crystal Bartenders for the open bar, which was available to guests who could opt for either classic cocktails or new concoctions, all embellished with a single red rose. Schaffer catered the event, providing an eclectic mix of Dan’s favorite foods, including a lavish raw bar and seafood display. Some favorites were: oysters on the half shell, chilled mussels, and Hawaiian tuna poke. Keeping with the elevated, but dreamy vibe, supper was arranged on a single very long table. Collections of small floral creations lined the center of the table, while place settings consisted of ivory china topped off with a satin black napkin and custom ebony menu card. Dreamy Spanish guitarists played while loved ones noshed on fresh antipasti, penne Bolognese, chicken picatta, and rosemary roasted potatoes.

A large “Funville” sign was affixed overhead in an area illuminated with candlelight  – perfect for friends posing for photographs. “Funville” was also customized on the dance floor, a space where many guests never left. DJ Herick played a range of genres to keep the crowd energized. Later, a lively number by samba dancers was performed as a treat for partygoers. It definitely was fun!
