Cindy's Chic Bridal Fiesta

Honored to have been asked to be a part of my dear friend Cindy’s bridal party for her upcoming wedding in Mexico, I also knew I had to play a pivotal role in helping with her bridal shower.

We elected to host at a private residence for a few reasons: free rein of the place, an intimate environment, and we could enjoy each other’s company for an unlimited amount of time rather than the constraints of a restaurant, etc. I wanted the décor to be representative of her destination wedding, but in a classic and chic way. I used bold colors to decorate the patio. First, I hand-strung paper streamers and pom-pom garlands heavily across the ceiling of the area and outfitted the outdoor fireplace with both fresh and paper flowers that fit perfectly with the theme. I discovered beautiful color-burning taper candles for all-white tabletops that also showcased long rows of short vases filled with frothy white florals. Cute punchy-hued piñatas were placed about to add pops of color. I also created custom signs that read: Adios, Serafin | Bienvenidos Marquez, as a nod to her old and new last names.

I coordinated catering by another small business owner and friend, Nicole Shahar of Old Soul Life. Cooking from scratch with fresh ingredients, Nicole curated a healthy Mexi-Cali-themed menu. Fare included a Mexican Cobb salad with charred corn, roasted peppers, avocado, cotija cheese, and chipotle-dusted corn chips, flank-steak adobo tostadas with a rich smokey, spicy, and citrus sauce, and yucca with yuzu mojo. There was also a grazing board filled Spanish cheese, olives, cured meats, tajin-dipped fruits, tortilla chips, salsa, and guacamole with pomegranates. It was spectacularly delicious and not a single palate was left dissatisfied!

Guests dressed in all-white attire so that the bride could standout in a red ensemble that looked amazing against her long dark tresses. We played games, such as “What's In Your Purse” and “Bridal Bingo,” and drank margaritas, Champagne, and vodka cocktails. Attendees also enjoyed the vanilla confection and other goodies at the dessert table, like sugar cookies in the shape of bridal gowns and colored churros. We laughed, reminisced, and had good old-fashioned girl time – it was wonderful! Later in the day, the groom arrived with a lush bouquet of vibrant florals to greet his bride, and also stayed a while to thank friends and family for attending.
