An Oversized Teddy Bear Tea Party

Crystianna, the daughter of famed comedian Russell Peters, recently celebrated her 8th birthday party and it was filled with dreamy details that young girls and boys love.

Guests arrived and made themselves comfortable, with children running to play in one of the multiple entertainment displays and adults settling into soft blue velvet chairs and couches. Low floral arrangements decorated coffee tables, so that conversation could flow seamlessly, without the distraction of bulky décor. Parents were able to converse and mingle, while also being in close enough proximity to oversee their children. (Take note that this is an important detail for any event with kids. Adults won’t be able to relax if, for example, the jumper is set up in the front yard, whilst the other activities are arranged out in back and they can’t supervise their children.)

A pizza lunch by Prova was freshly made by hand with all-organic ingredients using a portable wood-fired grill. Partygoers took their seats at round tables covered in textured ivory linens. Tall bubble-gum pink vases showcased centerpieces filled with lush roses in shades of pink and lavender – Crystianna’s favorite colors. Another one of the birthday girl’s favorite things: teddy bears. At each place setting, sat a cuddly plush bear.

Finally, it was time to enjoy all the decadent desserts presented. Yummy two-headed ice cream cones topped with scrumptious toppings by Frost Bite, delicious cotton candy by Sugar Bouffant (it’s organic, too!), and slices of the expertly crafted teddy bear birthday cake.

Fueled with full bellies and plenty of sugar, it was time for more entertainment, including a performance by a real-life ballerina. Elaborate balloon installations, including several giant teddy bears in shades of copper, peach, and pink, surrounded the plum-and-purple bouncy house complete with obstacle course.

When Game Busters mobile arcade appeared on site, I wasn’t sure if the kids or the dads would have more fun! This is a clever idea, and good to settle down the little ones a bit after spending lots of time jumping. The interior temperature is set just right and there is plenty of cushioned seating or standing room for several players.

Then, a gaggle of ponies arrived, many of them perfectly primped. One finely coifed horse was selected immediately for a ride. The mane of her hair had been braided and dyed lavender and pink, and her tail was styled in a long thick braid, fastened with a silky fuchsia bow. Another auburn-and-white pony wore a lush rose wreath like a necklace. Parents were included if they wanted to accompany their child for a magical trot around the neighborhood.

Not to forget the pièce de résistance: an all-white ball pit with shimmering garland walls and custom signage that read “Crystianna… Love, Daddy.” Teddy bears were sprinkled about, “floating” on the top layer of opaque balls, which also made for a nice color contrast. Additionally, oversized pink, clear, and white balloons also bounced around in the ball pit, making it fun for the children to play around, while parents loved the terrific photo ops of their kids having an amazingly good time.
