A Winter ONEderland at Veranda's Beach House

First birthdays are beautiful. They are a celebration of youth, a gathering for families, a chance to show off our soon-to-be toddlers and an opportunity to be thankful for all the love and support throughout the first twelve months. I was hired by Johanna to design and execute a day for Alessandra that included glamour, femininity and activities fit for a beautiful family. While on the search for the perfect venue, we looked high and low and then finally - thanks to Kim at New York Food Company, we booked Veranda's Beach House.

Located in Manhattan Beach, Veranda's is the ultimate turnkey venue for birthdays, weddings, pretty much any occasion. Their rental package includes the entire space which includes parking, the full space, lighting, linens, chairs and tables. There are no unsightly corners to hide, the bathrooms are immaculate and the staff provides impeccable service. But did I mention it's party of NEW YORK FOOD COMPANY? Now to the party. Guests were greeted downstairs by a flurry of snow just before they walked inside to find their seats. Tables were set with a variety of chargers that complimented the warm, winter lanterns and silver sparkly garland in a family style setting. Rounds were perfectly set for the larger groups that were sure to interact during games created by dad that encouraged everyone to mix and mingle throughout. Menus were set at each place setting that reflected the Winter ONEderland theme so guests knew all the delicious options served up by the friendly Veranda's staff.

Once lunch was complete, guests made their way upstairs to enjoy desserts accompanied by a hot chocolate and coffee bar. Children made ornaments, had their faces painted, were made into caricatures and patiently waited in line for custom balloons as families danced into the photobooth compliments of music by DJ Herick. The luncheon was complete once we sang happy birthday during a mini snowstorm with the dainty wintery cake from the team at Merengue Bakery.
